My Interview With The Man

Friday, December 3rd, 2004, 2:00pm, I called Mr. George Lowe himself. He offered to do an interview for the site, so I jumped at the chance. The phone rang twice and I was greeted by Mr. Lowe doing a "zany" character. It was hilarious.
After we got the greetings out of the way, the interview began. I'd like to thank the members of the forum for providing most of the questions for the interview.

(Many times the "Click to Play" button will have more audio than the transcription, I decided to only type out the answers to the questions, and leave the rest of the funny stuff for you to hear him actually saying. "Click to Play" buttons with an asterix following them have more audio than the typed response.)

DadShrine.com:

Are you getting enough oxygen?

George Lowe:

Yes, I'm getting adequate oxygen, although it's filled right now with allergens as I'm in Florida. So there's lots of stuff, this time of year the air is chunky style down here.

DS:

Was Dad a fun character for you?

GL:

Dad was a fantastic character for me. Hopefully someday they'll say, "Hey, we need a whole bunch more Dad.". It was a blast.

DS:

Did Dad have a full name?

GL

That's a good question, there may be some top secret thing that the writers called him. Probably "The difficult guy in the booth", I don't know, "The bald-headed dyspeptic man who comes in once in a while and works an hour and goes home".

DS:

About how tall would you say Dad is?

GL:

I don't think they ever said specifically, but by my best calculations he would be about the size of Felix Silla, who played Cousin It on "The Addams Family"... *

DS:

Why was dad a "Tiny man"?

GL:

I'm guessing that the writers probably lived near power lines, so I think there's some Thyroid issues all the way around. Oddly enough, we have a couple writers, ChiChi and Tingi, who are both about 4 feet tall.

DS:

About how old would you say Dad is?

GL:

I think Dad is right about 39, if I'm not mistaken. He's a young dad... *

DS:

How did the voice and personality come about?

GL:

...I tried different versions, I tried a great big deep voice, and I had all these different things coming out of the little pictures they showed me, and when I said, "What if he started talking like this... *

Lots of great info in this one!

DS:

Do you have a favorite episode of The Brak Show?

GL:

I liked "Psychoklahoma"... *
